Thales Unveils New AI-Powered Training Data Analytics Platform To Enhance Military Training
Military training exercises generate vast volumes of data, but turning that data into timely, actionable insight that drives real operational improvement remains a key challenge for armed forces. Monday, Thales addresses this with the launch of Gladiator Training Data Analytics, a new AI-powered platform that transforms raw data from land live training exercises into structured, reliable and doctrinally-aligned intelligence for After Action Reviews.
This platform aggregates data from the exercise control system (Excon), integrating sensor inputs from soldiers, vehicles, drones and infrastructure, enabling a comprehensive, reliable, and shared view of field events for both trainees and instructors, empowering informed decisions and elevating operational performance.
An interactive timeline highlights key engagements, smoke launches and artillery impacts as they occur. A replay function allows instructors to review the entire manoeuvre in full detail. Tactical metrics, including force concentration, weapon diversity, and performance at individual and collective levels, are automatically calculated against the core principles of warfare. All insights are available within minutes of the exercise ending, enabling faster, evidence-based debriefings and clearer identification of critical decisions, successes and failures.
Metrics are aligned with doctrinal frameworks and tailored to the specific objectives of each training programme, allowing instructors to analyse decisions made under pressure, and support more rigorous, targeted debriefings directly linked to continuous performance improvement.
This platform includes an advanced AI-powered communications analysis engine. Radio communications are automatically transcribed, even in degraded and noisy environments, then processed using natural language algorithms. This gives instructors a structured view of how the chain of command operated throughout the exercise, supporting more precise coaching and doctrine refinement.
This platform also operates with no internet connection, on dedicated systems, ensuring complete data sovereignty and autonomy. It can be deployed on-premise and integrated directly into existing training infrastructures, giving armed forces complete control over their data, from collection to analysis to storage.
