Sao Paulo To Host 2014 Confed Cup Draw

FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil have confirmed Sao Paulo as the host city for the FIFA Confederations Cup draw in December later this year.

However, the venue for the draw in Sao Paulo is yet to be announced.

Secretary General Jerome Valcke, FIFA and the LOC held their first meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday where they expressed their satisfaction at the progress of the stadium construction projects which are largely on schedule and praised the high standards of Brazil civil engineering industry.

The meeting set out March as the deadline for announcing the slogan for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Brazil.

Also discussed was the operational issues relating to FIFA’s headquarters during the FIFA World Cup which will be situated in Rio de Janeiro and the processes for the selection of the National Team Training Centres.

Valcke said as FIFA, they had good working relations with the Brazilian federal government.

“The relations between FIFA and federal government have always been excellent. I am very pleased that we are walking side by side with them and in the right direction,” he said.
