Spain’s Foreign Minister Stresses Cooperation With Gulf Nations

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Garcia-Margallo underlined Wednesday the necessity of reinforcing cooperation with the Arabian Gulf countries in all fields.

Speaking at a parliamentary committee meeting, Margallo emphasized that Spain should seek closer cooperation with Gulf nations, especially at political and trade levels.

On Iraq, he reiterated his country’s commitment to Iraq’s democracy, economic prosperity and political stability in Iraq following the withdrawal of US forces from this Arab country.

As to the so-called “Arab spring”, he hoped that it would lead to free democratic societies that respect human rights.
