Afghanistan: Taliban Behind Assassination Of Rabbani

According to an official statement the murder of ex-Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani, was carefully planned by the leadership of the radical movement “Taliban”.
This announcement was made at a press conference in Kabul by a representative of the Main Directorate of Afghan National Security Shafikulla Tahiri.
According to him, the decision to assassinate Rabbani was made by the Shura (Council) of the Taliban in the Pakistani city of Quetta.
A suicide bomber named Ismatulla entered the house of Rabbani posing as a messenger of the Shura who claimed to have important proposals for reconciliation.
Upon approaching Rabbani he detonated an explosive device hidden under his clothing.
The leaders of the Taliban reject any involvement in the crime.
