Egypt: Bomb In North Sinai Hotel Kills 4, Injures 14

By

Four people, including a judge, were killed and 14 injured, including some policemen, in a bomb blast this morning outside a north Sinai hotel hosting judges overseeing the second round of Egypt’s parliamentary polls. According to the Al Ahram newspaper, the attacks was carried out with a car-bomb outside the main Swiss Inn Hotel in El Arish.

Egypt’s state TV also reports that a second attacker blew himself up in the kitchen of the hotel, while another gunman opened fire in the hallways. An exchange of fire broke out with security forces at the entrance of the hotel.

Since the Egyptian army ousted president Mohammed Morsi in 2013, the northern Sinai has been theater to a Jihadist insurrection, with frequent attacks against security forces that left hundreds dead.
