Iranian Foreign Minister In China For Consultations

Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araqchi has paid a visit to China to hold negotiations on a range of bilateral, regional and international issues.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Beijing on Friday, Araqchi said the main purpose of his trip is to hold consultations on the regional and international issues and also on the bilateral relations with China.

“We have always had close consultations with China on all regional and international subjects,” he said.

Pointing to the “sensitive situation” in the region which is experiencing chaos and confusion, Araqchi said there are also various issues at the international level.

The foreign minister noted that while Iran’s nuclear program will be facing “new conditions” in the new year, Tehran and Beijing will need to hold more consultations.

“The bilateral relations have been always and are amicable. We need to consult on various issues,” he added.

“I believe this trip is being made at very appropriate time,” Araqchi stated, adding that Iran and China need to “get prepared for the challenges” that will arise in 2025 at the regional and international levels, in the sphere of the UN Security Council, and also regarding the bilateral ties.

“The purpose (of the trip) is to reach closer coordination to rise to those challenges,” the Iranian foreign minister said.
