In his first public comments since the beginning of protests in his country, Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday blamed it on “conspirators” who are trying to destroy Syria.
“All of our enemies work in an orderly fashion to hit the stability in Syria. The growing Syrian role is a cause of concern for the enemy,” said the Syrian leader.
He added: “Not everyone who came out in the demonstrations is a conspirator, but he was deceived by some parties who want to destabilize Syria.”
He also expressed regret for the events experienced by Syria and the victims of these events, stressing that the changes that occur in the region leave their implications on his country as Syria is not isolated from these events.
He stressed that these changes boost the hopes of the Arabs, “and we believe that the changes will lead to change in the course of the Palestinian cause from the path of concessions to uphold the rights”.
