Israel’s Former Foreign Minister Charged With Fraud

By

Israel’s authorities have put forward charges of fraud and breach of trust against the country’s former Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

An official charge against him was published by the Ministry of Justice on Sunday.

Mr. Lieberman is accused of promoting the career of Israel’s former Ambassador in Belarus Zeev Ben Aryeh after Mr. Lieberman has received some confidential information from Mr. Ben Aryeh about the investigation against him, Lieberman.

Avigdor Lieberman retired in mid December. Now, he is planning to run for a seat in the parliament (the elections are due to take place on January 22, 2013). But if Mr. Lieberman is found guilty of what he is charged with, this may be the end of his political career.
