Iran Says Saudi Arabia “Playing With Fire”

By

The National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Thursday warned against Saudi Arabia’s invasion of Bahrain, urging Riyadh to leave the tiny kingdom. “Saudi Arabia knows better than any other country that playing with fire in the sensitive Middle East region will not be in their interests,” the commission said in a statement.

“Instead of pursuing US policies in the region, Saudi Arabia had better think about its own interests and the Muslim world and take steps to pull out its forces from Bahrain in order to establish peace and security in the region and refrain from adding to complications,” it added.

The Majlis commission warned that the regional developments would get the United States and its allies bugged down, irrespective of all their mobilized efforts.

The Iranian lawmakers noted that the deployment of Saudi and United Arab Emirates (UAE) forces, backed by the US, in Bahrain would complicate the situation in the region and strengthen the resolve of Bahrainis to counter the ‘occupiers.’
