(RFE/RL) — Eight American tourists have been killed and 21 injured in Egypt after their bus hit a truck, the Egyptian state news agency has reported.
The MENA news agency says the crash happened early today as the tourists were traveling from Aswan to Abu Simbel, the site of two ancient temples, in the south of the country.
The injured were taken to a military hospital where they were treated for fractures and cuts.
The bus driver and a tour guide were also hurt.
Road accidents are common in Egypt, where an estimated 8,000 people die in traffic-related incidents each year.
