Palanisamy Nagarajan is an Emeritus Professor of Economics and Island Studies Teaching Fellow at the University of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada. He holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Mysore, India, and a PhD in economics from Kansas State University. Currently contributing to an interdisciplinary Master's degree program in Island Studies at UPEI, he teaches a course on Sustainable development of Small Islands. He has held visiting positions at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi, India, and the International University of Kagoshima, Japan. In recent years, his research focus has been on the issues of development and sustainability of ecosystems.
