Iran: Attempt To Blow Up Gas Pipeline Prevented

In the Iranian province of Khuzestan an attempt to blow up the Abadan-Mahshahr gas pipeline was prevented, IRNA agency reported.

The Chief Executive of Abadan, Bahram Ilhaszade said that today the security forces have received information about the bomb under the Abadan-Mahshehr pipeline. As a result of the operation, they managed to defuse the bomb on the gas pipeline section running between the cities of Abadan and Mahshehr.

According to Ilhaszade, gas pipeline security forces, as well as volunteers (Basij) of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the Sepah) were involved in search and neutralization of the bomb.

As Ilhaszade said, currently the search is on for the perpetrators of the crime.
