The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE) is mourning the demise of Faisal Moulavi, one of the founders of FIOE and the former leader of al-Gamat al-Islamiya in Lebanon.

The FIOE in a statement released here late Monday described him as “one of the most prominent pioneers of the Islamic preaching (Dawa) in Lebanon and in France and in Europe.”

Moulavi was also a vice-president of The European Council for Fatwa and Research, a Dublin-based private foundation, founded in 1997.
FIOE President Shakib bin Makhlouf said the Muslim community in Europe closely knew Moulavi for his effective role in spreading the message of Islam and for promoting the moderate path.
The Brussels-based FIOE is an umbrella organisation for hundreds of Muslim bodies and groups in Europe.
