A militant leader has been killed in Dagestan, a republic in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus region, the National Investigation Committee said on Monday.

A total of seven militants have been killed in Dagestan since May 10; the bodies of five, including militant leader Ali Aminov, have been identified.

Dagestan militant Shamil Gazimigamedov, who in February 2011 organized attacks in Russia targeting trains, has also been identified among those killed.
