6.5 Earthquake Hits Japan; Brief Tsunami Warning
No damage was reported at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted northeast Japan on Friday.
A tsunami warning is in place for the coastal areas of Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, which were devastated by a powerful quake and tsunami in March that also severely damaged the nuclear plant.
The quake’s epicenter was 113 kilometers from the town of Fukushima, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
