Sarkozy And Zapatero To Meet Friday In Paris

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is to meet Friday in Paris with Spanish Prime Minister Jose-Luis Zapatero to discuss bilateral, European and other international issues, Sarkozy’s office announced Thursday.

“The meeting will be devoted to European questions and the situation in the Euro zone and the preparation of the next European Council (Summit) meeting on February 4,” a statement from the Elysee Palace said.

Sarkozys office indicated that the two leaders would also be discussing “the principal international files, in particular the situation in the Middle East”.

The talks are additionally due to address the “French priorities for the G20”, in addition to a number of bilateral issues.

France has just taken over the Presidency of the G20 body and is set to propose a number of initiatives to reform parts of the international financial system and its governance.
