Yemen: AQAP Media Chief Killed, Attacks On Pipelines

Security forces killed the media chief of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a security official said Saturday, according to Yemen’s state media agency SABA.

“In a successful military operation, AQAP media chief Ibrahim Mohammed Saleh al-Banna’a, Egyptian,” was killed on Friday night in Azzan area of Shabwa province along with six other terrorists, a source told SABA, which claimed that Al-Banna’a was “one of the most wanted militants of al-Qaeda worldwide.”

Relatedly, SABA reported in a separate article that saboteurs of the opposition Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) and al-Qaeda attacked a gas pipeline, citing a security official in Shabwa province on Saturday.

According to SABA, the gas pipeline was attacked in Maifa’ah district on Friday, adding that after 12 hours the firefighters managed to extinguish fire.
