News Of The World Whistleblower Reporter Found Dead

U.K. police said on Monday that the reporter who first alleged widespread voice mail hacking at the News of the World tabloid has been found dead.

Police said Sean Hoare’s death at his home was not being treated as suspicious, media reports said.

Hoare had told the The New York Times that phone-hacking was common policy at the News of the World tabloid under then-editor Andy Coulson, who later went on to work as Prime Minister David Cameron’s communications chief.

Coulson was recently arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into phone hacking and police corruption. Metropolitan police chief Paul Stephenson and his assistant commissioner have already stepped down in connection with the probe.
